I think that pro-ana sites should be shut down or highly regulated. it helps to fuel the thinking of eating disorders and helps people to see what others are doing and if it works for those people then it will be tried by the thosands of young women and men who read those articles. Clairegirl goes to all of the websites and sees others who have these goals for themselves and their strategies for losing weight to get to double digits. I do not think that is good because people who think about an eating disorder don't neccesarily act upon it; if they have fuel to add to the fire from ideas they see online or from things they hear at school and they see that they work then it will be like a hugh bon fire- totally out of control. I have thought about eating disorders before, what it would be like it I had one and how I would regulate them, even though I do not need to participate in one. I do to the gym about three or four times a week, sometimes more if I have the time; I think I do it just ot stay fit. People say I do not eat enough, but sometimes I think I eat too much. If I am around people who have an eating disorder and know what they are doing and I see that they lose 5-10 lbs easily and keep it off, I think I would definitely try it. I would then be back to freshmen in high school weight, not healthy for what I should be now. Anyways, I think that when people see it and are around the results of eating disorders they will actually try it and act upon it, over if they just think about it and let that thought pass. With all these websites lingering around, it is just a way for young people to start. It's not right, but people have to be like a perfect weight to be totally accepted in life these days. You could have a super personality, but if you have like an extra 20 pounds on you, people will notice and they will think about it- it's just a human thing that happens. That and these websites put together and bad combination that equals a lot of sickness.
I think these websites should stay up because it provides a support system for young girls and guys who have these disorders. Without and support and help or others, these young people could be spiraling out of control with their disorder and have no regulations on what they do. If they are fighting the ED by themselves and have no one to talk to, I think it could be fatal for them. If there is a support group, then I think that they will have ways to help over come the disease and fight it. Yeah, they will also tell you how to lose all that weight and how to get skinnier, which is bad, but if you have someone to talk to I think that your emotional state will be better than if you didn't. If you find the right sites that help you try to exit that kind of life, then you will be more likely to seek medical attention ahd help and to try and save your life. Again, Clairegirl was searching these sites and found her support group and is finding out ways on how to limit herself, but I think that she will do it safetly and not as much weight. I believe she said she just wanted to do ten pounds at the most, and still be in her ideal weight for her height- I think that is a good goal to reach, and that should be her limit. But it needs to be done with other people so it can be regulated and not get out of control, that is why the websites are a good idea and how they can help people lose the weight and be as safe as they can, even though the ED's aren't such a great idea in the first place.

I really liked how well you supported both of your stances. Both, the pro and the con, were very convincing. Very thoughtful.
