kelly

1. What are your initial reactions to Kelly's disqualification?
I think that it is terrible that she was disqualified over the suit. It is part of her religion and the officials should have respected that and let her run with it. They should have been thinking like well it is more clothes on her and resistance to the wind so that would be an advantage to everyone else nad make things fair for the others.
2. What is your argument regarding the assertion that Kelly's disqualification constitutes religious discrimination? Does the disqualification of other athletes for non-religious reasons affect your response? If so, why or why not?
That no one else wwas discriminated for this. Also, people are weird and racist while not meaning to be, i admit I am sometimes, so it is easy for it to happen. think that it is discrimination because she has been using the outfir for more than three years and they choose this race to put an end to the suit and make a statement.
3. If you were to write an argumentative essay on this decision, what further information would you need to obtain to construct a more logos-based argument and counterargument?
Whether or not more peopel with religious issues got disqualified. What if someone was a hard core Jew and wore a yamacai all the time, but it wasn't bothering anyone and would be gaurenteed not to fall off and interfere with anyone. Would that person get into trouble? All situations should be thought of and all backgrounds should be thought of and how they rules of
4. How effectively does Rogers defend his stance?
Not well, people of faith should be given some slack. If they are ready and willing to go that extra mile for their God then they should be givin the opportunity to do so. It shows determination and integrity, as well as the drive to do something when people will be looking and questioning your choice. It shows they have a strong will and confidence, which everyone likes, so they should be able ot wear what they need to to meet their religious goals.
5. What are some potential solutions to pursue regarding implementing track rules?
Potential solutions regarding implementing rules: Actually I feel dumb, but i do not understand this question. I have been thinking about it for at least five minutes and it is not sinking in :(
6. If the single solid color rule was implemented so that judges could more easily distinguish the results of a close finish, would this change your response to Kelly's disqualification? Explain your answer.
No, i do not think that it would help judges out. I think that if eveyone had their own thing going on the judges should be able to see who won, but if things we all the same color how would that help the judges? And if they do want a single color suit, i think they would still be sticklers about letting kelly run with her head covered.
